New Clemson Basketball Coach Brad Brownell
The latest news out of Clemson South Carolina is that Brad Brownell is the new Clemson Tiger head basketball coach. Coach Brownell has led his former team Wright State to four consecutive 20 win seasons and has averaged 21 wins per season in the past 8 years according to tigerillustrated.com. Clemson fans seemed to be very excited about this new hire, even though i dont think this was the hire everybody had in mind. We will see if Coach Brownell can hang in the toughtest conferences in NCAA basketball.

Who's Down With OPP? Not Clemson.
If you have not heard the news yet, Head Coach of Clemson Baseskeball Oliver Purnell has left and went to DePaul, signing a 7 or 10 year contract for $15 million dollars. Why did Oliver Purnell leave an up and coming Clemson team that plays in the toughest conferrence in the nation? We all now that Clemson is mainly a football college and then many people would say Clemson baseball would be next then followed by basketball. Maybe Oliver just wanted to get out of Clemson and this was the most opportune time to do so. Coach Purnell brought Clemson from being down in the ACC to one of the top 5 teams, he just could not get them over the hump in the NCAA Tournement. Purnell was 0-3 in leading Clemson out of the first round of the tournement. Even thought i hate to see him leave maybe it is just the best thing for both Clemson and Coach Purnell. Clemson fans, lets just hope we get a better coach than Purnell because he was a good one.

Clemson and Carolina Baseball
With Clemson ranked #16 and with an overall record of 18-6 have fallen 4 spots and went 1-4 last week. Carolina ranked #12 with an overall record of 19-5 have moved up 2 spots and went 3-1 last week. With the Clemson Tigers taking on Coastal Carolina this weekend, Clemson is looking to move up in the College Baseball rankings and improve their overall record. Carolina on the other hand is taking on The Citadel, which both coaches are looking to reach a milestone in their coaching career. The coach for The Citadel is looking to be the most winningest coach in The Citadel history, and coach Tanner is looking to get his 600th win.

Steven Garcia VS. Connor Shaw
According to the head football coach at the University of South Carolina Steve Spurrier, there will be two quarterbacks ready to play if the other does not play the way the coaches ask. In Carolinas first spring scrimmage on Saturday Conner was 8-13 passing for 120 yards with one touchdown, and one touchdown was dropped. Spurrier said that was one of the best thrown post patterns he has seen since he started at USC. On the otherhand Garcia was 6 or 15 for 88 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Garcia is coming into the 2010 football season as the starting quarterback, but as he has proven before, Garcia has failed to produce what Spurrier wants in a quarterback. So which quarterback will prevel over the other?

Shall We Dance?
Ready for it or not March Madness is upon us. The Clemson Tigers a number 7 seed facing the number 10 seeded Missouri Tigers. Clemson has had some trouble the past couple of years getting past that first round game, but who knows this might be the year that they make it over the hump (I really just sounded like a Carolina fan). To bring up my next topic the South Carolina Gamecocks did not make the NCAA Tournement or the NIT this year. Devan Downey did not lead the Gamecocks to the promise land like EVERY Carolina fan thought that he would. The NCAA Tournement start this Thursday, with the opening game being played tonight. If you have not already printed off your bracket for the tournement here is a link that you can go to and print it off. http://www.chiff.com/recreation/sports/ncaa-brackets.htm.

Not Such a Happy Ending for South Carolina's Devan Downey.
Devan Downey has to be the most overrated player in the NCAA. I am so tired of hearing Carolina fans say Devan Downey is the best player and he should win the award for the most outstanding college basketball player. Downey to me is the biggest ball hog i have ever seen, he takes about 85% of the shots during a game. I hope if a player took that many shots in a game he would average almost 30 points per game. I really don't think Devan Downey has ever heard of an assist. I will say that he is a scrapy player, with 272 steals in a 3 year period, that is a crazy number. I still do not think he is the best player to ever play for the Gamecocks. With Alabama coming in and spoiling Devan Downey's senior night (witch i absolutly loved), the hopes for an NCAA Tournement birth went down the tollet last night. The Gamecocks will have to win 3 straight games in the SEC Tournement next week just to have a shot of making it. I know i'm making some Gamecock fans mad, but this is just what I think. Carolina just needs to become more of a TEAM.

The Show Down of the Palmetto State
Clemson and Carolina start their 3 game series this weekend starting Friday with the game at Doug Kingsmore Stadium in beautiful Clemson, South Carolina, and Saturday they will play at a neutral site in Greenville, South Carolina (I really dont see how that is a neutral site), and finishing up on Sunday in Columbia, South Carolina. It will be a good series, with both teams still remaining undefeated. Which team will be the first to fall? I hope it is the Carolina Shamecocks (sorry i am a Clemson fan). But may the best team win. GO TIGERS!!!!

Let The College Baseball Season Begin!!
With baseball season underway, the #14 ranked Tigers (3-0) with wins over Michigan State, Miami (Ohio), and Furman are looking strong. The #10 ranked Gamecocks (3-0) with a weekend sweep of Duquesne (which this is their last season of having a college baseball team) is also looking strong as they usually do. The Gamecocks and Tigers will meet up March 5-7 with the 3rd game being at a nuetral site in Greenville. So which team will be victorious? Carolina is known for being a homerun hitting team, while on the other hand Clemson does have their power hitters but nothing like Carolina, with hitters one through nine being able to change the course of a game with one swing of the bat. Never the less it will be a great 3 game series. Looking along way down the road, are these two highly ranked teams going to make an apperance in the College World Series? It might be a little to early to tell, but these two teams are making a great start to thier season.

Will the Tigers or Gamecocks make it to the Big Dance?
The question that is on every Clemson and South Carolina fans mind is will the Tigers or Gamecocks make it to the big dance (the NCAA tournement)? With the Clemson Tigers 18-7 orverall and 6-5 in the ACC, they still might have a good chance to make it. With five games left with Virginia, at Florida State, Georgia Tech, and finally at #25 Wake Forest. These last five games don't look so tough, but which Clemson team will show up to play? Will the Tiger team show up that beat UNC earlier in the year or will the old Clemson team that had lost 4 straght show up. While the Tigers' road to the NCAA Tournement looking good with those five games left, the future for the South Carolina Gamecocks who are 14-11 overall and 5-6 in theSEC, does not look so bright. Their five remaining games are #18 Tennessee, at #2 Kentucky (which the Gamecocks pulled of the biggest upset in their history), Mississippi State, Alabama, and finally ending the season at #19 Vandy. If the Gamecocks do not win atleast two or three of those final games, they would have to almost win the SEC tournement which is highly unlikely for both teams to thier conference tournements. I have been proven wrong by both teams before, but time will tell the future for these to basketball teams.

How does the upcoming 2010 NFL Draft look for Clemson and South Carolina Players?
With the 2010 NFL Draft coming up, what Clemson Tigers and South Carolina Gamecocks will be looking for new homes? The four letter newtork's top 32 draft pics of 2010 has only one player from Clemson going in the first round in the top 15. That would be the highly talented C.J. Spiller, he is projected to be drafted the number 13th pick over all. Another site had him going 6th overall. C.J. Spiller was Clemsons' work horse this year earning Heisman Trophy honors and being selected the ACC player of the year. The South Carolina Gamecocks Eric Norwood is projected be the 91st pick overall. Since I am from Camden, South Carolina and I graduated with Thomas Austin, he is project to be the 311th pick over all.

Marcus Lattimore Chooses South Carolina
If you have not heard already, the highly rated running back from Byrnes High School in South Carolina has choosen to attend South Carolina over Aurburn. Was that a smart move? We shall find out very soon.
With Clemson and Carolina both pulling off some big and much needed wins this weekend, the big question is will either team make the NCAA tournament or the NIT tournament? With the Gamecocks on fire and Devon Downy leading his team to beating #1ranked Kentucky Wildcats and a tough Georgia Bulldog team. Just in those two game Downey was averaging 32 points a game and finally earned SEC player of the week. With Clemsons point guard Demontez Stitt out with a sprained ankle has set the Tigers back a little bit. The Tigers had lost three straight until ending Marylands three win streak. With March Madness creaping up on us, how will the Tigers and Gamecocks do to get into the big dance?
